Jigen Ryu: Branch Traditions

Jigen Ryū Branch Traditions (2nd Edition) offers a clear and accessible look at the major sword traditions associated with Jigen Ryū. This book explains how Jigen Ryū was formed in the late 16th century by Tōgō Shigekata, and explores the older schools that influenced its creation as well as the many branch traditions that later developed from it.

Using historical records, lineage research, and firsthand experience, Frank Nieves presents each tradition’s background, important figures, training methods, and guiding philosophy. Written for martial artists and history enthusiasts alike, this book provides an easy-to-understand overview of how these traditions evolved and how they continue to be practiced today.
