The Kendo Kids program’s aim is to introduce children to the philosophy and practical techniques of kendo. The focus is on physical training and discipline, as well as the sport of Kendo.
Head Instructor Frank Nieves has had many years of experience teaching children in the US and Japan. Having started martial arts at the age of 5, he fully understands all the positive impacts that the martial arts can have on a young child. He also earned a Masters degree in Japanese philosophy, where he focused on the martial arts and the impacts it had on the youth of Japan throughout modern history.
Our Kendo Kids class is currently offered on Saturday and Sunday along side our general kendo course and is available at a discounted rate. As our kids class increases in size we will be adding dedicated classes for them.
