This sword was made in July of 1993 by award winning swordsmith from Seki – Isaji Kanehiro. Kanehiro is best known for the sharpness of his blades and deep grooves making his swords well-balanced and easy to handle. He studied under the renown smith Makoto Takaba. Kanehiro specializes in Bizen style swords which were used during the Edo period making them ideal for the modern day practice of Iaido (Japanese swordsmanship).
This shinsakuto is in excellent condition. Sword is made from tamhagane. Plum Blossom motif. Silver habaki. Rare ray-skin wrapped scabbard. Handle was rewrapped in leather earlier this year (August 2021). The sword has been professionally reviewed in Japan and deemed safe for iaido practice. All fittings are tight and saya is secure.
